An art season was held at the Panlong Ancestral Residence in Pingshan in August 2023.
The Panlong Ancestral Residence in Laokeng Community in Longtian Subdistrict, Pingshan District, is a Hakka compound built in 1864. With three main halls and four watchtowers, the residence, covering an area of 1,780 square meters, is a traditional Qing Dynasty Hakka enclosed compound.
In addition to its centuries-old bricks and wood, rammed earth walls, wooden beam frames and small green tiled roofs, the compound's traditional Hakka residential structure and exquisite small-scale murals have been well-preserved. From the murals, one can get a glimpse into the ancient Hakka people's aspirations for prosperous businesses and happy family lives. The murals were created by folk artists and display clear patterns and lifelike figures, vividly representing the Hakka customs, serving as valuable material for the research of Hakka culture.

In August 2023, the Panlong Ancestral Residence Site-specific Art Season was held at the centuries-old compound, with exhibitions, markets and community activities that injected new vitality into the residence. The event has enabled more people to understand Pingshan's culture and the essence of Hakka culture.
